I Finally Did It!

I made ROLLS!  With a some help from Chris and my mom's roll recipe in hand I sure that I was going to make the best rolls ever...
I wish I could say that they turned out just the way my mom makes them. They looked perfect and they tasted perfect...but that would be a lie... :( However I did succeed on one account!!
The recipe to make these rolls, was probably the most involved recipe I have ever done. Not because I hadn't worked with the ingredients before, I had used them all except one. However there were all these tips my mom gave me to make it turn out great just like hers. So I was being extremely careful to make sure I was doing everything correctly!
This is what the dough looked like after we  had mixed it. It looks pretty good right? Back up a few steps. After I did the first step which included adding the yeast, we waited for it to start growing and then started adding the other ingredients. It wasn't until after we started kneading the dough did Chris realize the we forgot to add the eggs. That meant that we had to add them but with it more flour. So the dough in my eyes was already ruined, but we decided to press on and finish them. So even though this dough looks right, on the inside we knew that we had put too much flour in them. SO I pinched the dough out into rolls and waited for them to raise.
And they did rise...just in the wrong direction. Instead of rising up they rose out! So we had flat rolls!
But in the end, they browned really well, and they tasted even better (I ate 4 and Chris ate 5) although they were denser then traditional rolls. Next time I will remember to add the eggs and not as much flour! In the meantime we will enjoy eating our flat rolls!!

Celebration Weekend!

Now that we know where Chris was going to Law School there was only one thing to do. Eat at FOGO of course! How else were we going to celebrate? then by going to Houston to see the Fam and eating at a Brazilian all you can eat MEAT BUFFET! We went with SteveO, Lou, Stephen and Mel. My favorite meat this time was the bacon wrapped filet mignon! so freakin good!! Then when we were all stuffed to the rafters Lou mentioned how good dessert sounded so of course I had to order something Chocolate!! and this is the only picture from the evening...doesn't it look scrumptious!!

Thanks Chris for getting this scholarship so we could eat all this good food!

We are headed to Law School!!!!....but Where??

Oklahoma City University HERE WE COME! WHOOP! Today was a wonderful day. We found out that Chris was awarded the Hatton Sumners Scholarship. But I am jumping ahead of myself...

Back in August, Chris sent in his applications for law school. One week later, he received his first ACCEPTANCE LETTER from Oklahoma City University! Then a monthish later we received a letter in the mail that Oklahoma City University had awarded him a $26,000 yearly scholarship! Whoop! We were on cloud nine! After that came lots of acceptance letters and lots of scholarship offers. Then we were nothing but confused. Where were we supposed to go? Who were we going to accept? There were so many options that there was just one thing to do...Make a Spreadsheet of course. :) We wrote down all of the schools and all important information about each scholarship including any scholarship awarded. After many and many more hours, days, months, and trips to schools and more talking about each school we finally narrowed the playing field down to two law schools....Oklahoma City University and Southtexas! In the middle of all the questioning and all the information Chris found out that he was eligible to apply for a full ride scholarship to Oklahoma City University (The Hatton Sumner Scholarship!). So of course he applied. What would be more perfect than to have Law School paid for? A thought that hadn't crossed my mind when we initially applied to law schools. Not that I thought Chris wasn't good enough to get a scholarship (anyone who knows me know that I think that Chris can do no wrong!! :) ), I just saw graduating from law school and with that some debt to go along with it. However, my tune changed when that first scholarship came in the mail. Now the thought of paying nothing else for school was super duper exciting!!
...so Chris applied for the Scholarship. How this scholarship worked was that of all the applicants only 20 finalist were chosen. Those 20 were then flew or drove back to Oklahoma City and went through an interview with several members of the board of trustee from the Hatton Sumners Foundation. After the interviews they would give 4-6 finalist the Hatton Sumners Scholarship for the upcoming year!!

Chris went and interviewed last Friday at 2:20. The interview went really well and if you want the full story you'll have to call him....or maybe I'll write another blog about it, but it is enough to say that he impressed the trustees. AND today we found out that CHRIS WAS AWARDED TO SCHOLARSHIP! so...

We are going to Oklahoma City!! AND Chris is going to Law School on a Full Ride Scholarship!

This is such a blessing in our lives. I am so grateful and proud of Chris! Thanks for all the prayers and fasting and love from all of our family and friends!

Weekend at Tyler

This past Saturday almost all of my family was in Tyler, TX to celebrate Dad, Davanee, and Jordan's Birthdays! People who were there: Mom, Dad, Lindsey, David, Matthew, Mark, Hannah, Dalin, Aaron, Natalie, Jordan, Bryan, Meredith, Davanee, Me and Chris, Sarah and her Aaron, Grandma and Grandpa Murdock, Cherie, Kelly, and Amy. Whew that is a lot of people! Why Tyler? My brother Aaron has a house there that can 'fit' almost everyone!!
After everyone got there and got settled, the boys pulled out their hunting bows. So everyone went outside to watch them shoot. and then the girls got in on the action (well some of us tried!)!!
Chris could pull back both of the bow really easy. My little bow hunter!! We might have to look into buying a bow in the future! We had so much fun!
Aaron and Bryan and David all had no problems either!
At first David was only shooting Aaron's bow. It was easier to pull, even I did it. Then he decided to shoot Bryan's bow. He got the bow back, released the arrow, hit the hay bale, but he forgot to make sure his arm was out of the way so the bow snapped back and popped him in the arm. All we heard was 'Oh Crap!' Then David's arm blew up like a balloon! You can't tell how swollen it is right here...but it still looks bad! Luckily he iced it really quick and he was feeling better after a little while!

Here I am with the Aaron's bow. I pulled it back all by myself.  I shot the bow three times. The first time I shot it I just barely skimmed the hay bale. Before I tell you about my second shot, I need to let you know that Aaron has goats living to the side and behind his house. One my second shot my spectators got me laughing and the last thing I hear before I let go was "and don't kill my goats" but I was laughing and overshot the hay bale. I missed a goat by about a foot! Luckily the goats were called back to the side field and I was able to shoot again. This time I hit the hay bale almost in the center!
At first I was the only girl who could pull back the bow. Then Sarah gave it a shot and became the second and also the last girl who could shoot!
She did struggle with it, but after you pull it back once it gets a little easier each time.
My mom did give it a try. She almost had it!

This is Sarah's second shot. Luckily there weren't any goats because she over shot the hay bale too and most def would of hit a goat if there had been any!!

Before any of us girls tried to shoot, Sarah and Lindsey found some big sticks. Aaron's house when he bought it came with a pool, but it wasn't in any shape to swim in. So Lindsey and Sarah used to sticks to see what was lurking beneath the murky water!

After everyone played outside we went in for presents dinner and cake! It was Jordan's 1st birthday so of course she had to get some cake on her face!

Davanee also wanted some cake and although I don't have a picture but she was found sitting next to the cake and there were bite marks taken out of the sides of the cake!

What a GREAT weekend!!

Crazy Sock Day!!

Today was probably my least favorite day of Spirit Week....Crazy Sock Day! I didn't really have any crazy socks, so I borrowed a pair of Chris's Wool socks that he wears when he wears his boot when/if it gets cold...that was about as crazy as I got! The 'crazy socks' in the picture are Sarah's socks...she was Waldo for Halloween!! Tomorrow is going to be fun because it is Costume Day!!

Get Ready for Crazy Hair Day!

Today for crazy hair day I decided to go as a WHO...literally!

(the hair was hard enough to get to stay up so I left out the braids!)

This hair lasted till about 3 o'clock...then my head was hurting and it was starting to fall down...but it was FUN while it lasted!!
